Dheeresh Turnbull has been investigating the overlap between therapy and meditation for more years than he cares to remember. A former primary school teacher, he trained in cognitive therapy at the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre in 1997, becoming accredited with the BABCP in 2000, and registered with the UKCP at the same time. He has been a full-time cognitive behavioural therapist since 2001. Dheeresh first sat down to meditate in 1975 whilst a student at Lancaster University. Many years later he became a student of Zen master Genpo Roshi, with whom he continues to study, albeit at a distance. He co-ran his first mindfulness programme in 1999, and has since run them repeatedly for the Priory in North London and Hove. He is married with children and has been known to play the blues harmonica. |
