The first consultation lasts an hour where a full medical history and details about your current condition are noted. The osteopath will then perform a physical examination.

The osteopath will tell you what they think is wrong and how long it might take to correct it. If the patient is happy with this and wants to proceed, the first treatment is given straightaway.

Some of the treatment is so gentle you hardly feel the small movements of the osteopath's hands. This is popularly known as cranial osteopathy and is the only technique used with babies and young children.

Tight muscles might be released using a variety of techniques - some are similar to massage but others are more subtle. If the joints are stiff they might be mobilized, and sometimes if one is really stuck we can click it open to get it moving again.
